Bryan Rubenstein, a long-time friend of Gladys' and patron of Pirates Point, has created this beautiful memorial in honor of Gladys. It truly captures the essence of who she was and the vitality with which she lived her life. Thank you Bryan for your hard work and for sharing this with all of us at Pirates Point.

A Fitting Tribute to our Beloved Gladys...

The weather held out, flowers ultimately arrived on time, and all went as planned as we all came together to remember and share the love we all felt for Gladys Howard.   She is irreplaceable, but her memory and extraordinary works will live on in all of us and in Pirates Point.   Thanks to everyone who made the journey to be here with us.

Pirates Week kicks off the Holiday Season

Pirates Week is always the first sign of the upcoming Holiday Season.  With the parade held November 28, tis sure to get everyone in a festive mood! Feast ye eyes on our own Pirate Mike who won for Best Pirate, and our own lovely Chef Dianne, Best Wench of them all! We look forward to seeing everyone that can come for the Holidays and in the New Year ahead.

 

Annual SITA (Sister Islands Tourism Association) Little Cayman Cook Off

Saturday evening, November 14, Southern Cross Club hosted the annual SITA (Sister Islands Tourism Association) Little Cayman Cook Off. Our own Chef Dianne Fite won prizes on every dish she entered. Her winning dishes were:

1st prize in the Soup and Salad category for her Roasted Corn Chowder;
1st prize in the dessert category for her Little Cayman Turtle Trifle with salted caramel;
2nd prize in the appetizer category for Conch Samoas with wasabi tartar sauce and sweet chili harissa dipping sauce. 

Chef Vidyadhara Shetty, President of the Cayman Culinary Association and owner of Blue Cilantro Restaurant, Chef Keith Griffin of Bon Vivant personal chef services, and Chef Tanya Foster of Foster’ Food Fair judged the event.

This year’s event had huge island participation with more than 52 entries, more than twice the number of prior years.
